《集學論》或《集學論自釋》?
今晨抄讀英文廣論來到了第二冊的pp.218~219,對照漢譯本後,腦海一片混濁,急待澄清。
茲將英漢本文分別抄錄如下:
And Śāntideva’s Compendium of the Training in Verse (Śikṣā-samuccaya-kārikā) says:
Be forbearing and then study;
Stay in a forest, and then
Persevere at meditative equipoise.
His auto-commentary [Compendium of Trainings] to this says:
With impatience, you become disheartened and cannot forbear, so your perseverance at study, etc., declines. And without study, you do not know the means for either meditative stabilization or for clearing away the afflictions. Therefore, without becoming disheartened, study.
《集學論》云:「應忍求多聞,次當住林藪,精勤修等引。」《自釋》中云:「不能忍者,則由厭患,不能堪耐,退失聞等。無多聞者,則不能知靜慮方便,淨惑方便,故應無厭而求多聞。」(p.32705~07)我的問題在於英漢文本之間對於論典名稱的譯文,依照上述文字來看:
集學論=Compendium of the Training in Verse (Śikṣā-samuccaya-kārikā)
(集學論)自釋=Compendium of Trainings
然而,今天以前所抄讀的都是Compendium of Trainings(Śikṣā-samuccaya),漢譯都作「集學論」,非(集學論)「自釋」。
如果說今天這段英漢譯文(論典名稱)都正確的話,那麼今天以前的論典名稱之譯文似乎有商榷的必要了。
